One of many things I learned from my mom growing up was to never show up anywhere empty handed. I can always recall going to parties, events, and dinners as a child and never once would my mom show up without a yummy homemade dish, a beverage, or flowers in hand. I don’t know if it’s my generation, or maybe just the age group, but this seems to be a rarity nowadays. Through my mother’s example, I’ve learned to do exactly the same. While it may not come off entirely rude to show up empty handed, I can assure that the simple gesture of bringing the host a “thank-you” gift won’t hurt.
This weekend Lucas and I went over to a friend’s house for a BBQ to celebrate their birthday. I knew immediately after we made these plans what I would be bringing over! These Sausage Stars are no joke. They are a crowd favorite and a recipe that doesn’t take any knowledge in the kitchen to whip up. My mom has been making these for years. I would always get excited around the holidays because I knew she would be making these for all of the family gatherings!
The recipe makes about 4-5 dozen roughly, which would seem like a lot. However, these things go quick! So quick in fact that you might as well tuck a private stash away for yourself. I suggest serving these right as your company arrives, as these taste delicious fresh out of the oven. I will say that there is a little bit of prep work involved in assembling these. If you know you’re going to be on a time crunch, you can easily brown the sausage, bake the wonton cups, shred the cheese, chop the pepper all ahead of time and mix it all together and store in the fridge before the final step of this recipe. With all of the prep work done all you will have to do is scoop the mixture into the cups and bake for 5 minutes before serving. Soo easy!
I’d love to hear how the recipe turned out! Leave a comment below letting me know if you tried this recipe out and how you liked it! Enjoy!!!
